We are looking for dedicated and responsible pet lovers to join the growing Retro Mutts team! The positions include midday dog walker (weekdays 9:30am-3pm), part time pet sitter (weekdays and weekends), and dog walker/pet sitter (combination of both). We also have seasonal pet sitter positions (summer, winter break, spring break) available too!

You would be a great fit if you…

-LOVE pets (especially dogs!)

-Are at least 16 years old with a driver’s license

-Are comfortable with and have experience caring for dogs, cats, small animals, and/or birds

-Are very responsible, punctual, detail oriented, and can learn quickly

-Have adaptability in your schedule (we can schedule around college classes if needed): Our clients’ schedules are flexible and can be irregular with last minute requests and cancellations. Some days/weeks will be busier than others!

-Live in the Damascus/Clarksburg, MD area

-Are physically fit: Dog walking is a rigorous activity, and we walk dogs in all weather conditions!

-Are very patient with animals: some pets are elderly, have emotional issues, or disabilities

-Don’t mind cleaning up after pets

-Are a people person as well as an animal person!

-Enjoy interacting with animals for the majority of your day

-Can start August 2024 or earlier

What we expect from you on the job:

-Arrive: Show up on time!

-Focus: Follow the client’s instructions to the letter, pay attention to the pets for the entire duration of the visit!

-Stay: See out the full length of the walk/visit

-Send: Text photos and updates to the client at the end of every visit

-Exceed the clients’ expectations and deliver top-notch customer service and care!

You will need…

-Reliable transportation around Damascus/Clarksburg and surrounding areas

-Smartphone that can send text messages, take photos, and download the Time To Pet App

-Computer

-A positive attitude!

This is a great part-time job for college students, stay at home moms, and retirees!

What you get from working for us:

-Slow introduction into the world of dog walking/pet sitting: We will start you off with 1-2 dogs/day for new dog walkers, and gradually increase the number over time to a level that you are comfortable with

-Pay is per visit completed (not hourly), staffs are paid 50% of the service price

The Positions:

Midday Dog Walker

-Availability: 9am-3pm Weekdays (most visits will be between 10am-2pm)

-Generally a fixed/set schedule reoccurring weekly (with the possibility of last minute changes/cancellations)

-If you are a college student living in the area, give us your class schedule at the beginning of every semester and we can work your dog walking schedule around it!

-Experience working with dogs (kennel, daycare, rescue) is recommended but not required. You will be taught how to use a martingale, prong, slip, and correction collar on the job.

Pet Sitter

-Availability: Weekdays, weekends, plus holidays. Weekend and holiday availability is a MUST! Overnight availability is a plus, but not required.

-Generally not a fixed/set schedule. There are busy and slow seasons for pet sitting, you may have only 1-2 clients one week but have 5-6 the next week. Flexibility is key! We can also work around a class schedule if you are a college student.

-Many of our pet sitting clients are CATS, so experience with both dogs and cats is highly recommended!

Dog Walker/Pet Sitter

A combination of both of the positions! Get a fixed (typically) weekly dog walking schedule in addition to helping out with pet sitting jobs as needed.
